Dayton Area Recruiting Alliance

HR Professionals,

DARA’s Program Committee plans and schedules DARA meetings on a September to June calendar.  So believe it or not, we are approaching the last meeting of the year for DARA.  Following the June meeting, we will take a break for two months, and then start the 2008-2009 slate of programs in September.  So, please plan to join us for the “last hurrah” of 2007-2008!  You will have an opportunity to provide suggestions for topics to be tackled next year.

The June meeting will be at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 19.  The topic will be “Exit Interviews: What Employees Aren’t Telling You on Their Way out.”  The presenter will be Carole Haper, Vice President Consulting Services for Right Management.  Most recently she has assisted client organizations to address employee engagement, retention, change management, and talent assessment.  Full details, including more information about the topic, the format, the location, and how to RSVP, are included in the attached document.  Please mark your calendar and/or pass the announcement to others in your organization with roles related to recruiting and retention.

If others in your organization should be receiving these announcements, please forward their email address to me for inclusion in the distribution list.

We look forward to seeing you!

The Dayton Area Recruiting Alliance (DARA) provides area HR Professionals an opportunity to candidly discuss recruiting and retention-related issues with peers in a confidential setting. The meeting format usually includes a presentation or a panel discussion by area experts who provide information on a variety of topics. Time permitting, the group conducts a roundtable discussion. Networking includes sharing ideas, best practices and experience around the recruiting and retention functions.

DARA has three key functions:
  • To provide members with current information on recruiting and retention strategies and to build awareness of area workforce development initiatives and resources.
  • To serve as a confidential roundtable forum on recruiting and retention related topics for HR recruiting professionals.
  • To provide assistance or support projects related to area efforts to recruit and retain a qualified workforce.
Membership:
  • No membership dues and no specific membership requirements.
  • DARA maintains an email address roster for purposes of distributing meeting announcements.
  • DARA “members” are welcome to bring guests.
Meetings Held:
  • DARA meets monthly on the third Thursday of each month from 8:00-9:30 am. Meetings are not held in July, August, November, or December. Meetings are occasionally held on dates other than the third Thursday due to scheduling conflicts. If you have not received an emailed meeting announcement we recommend contacting Susan Davis to confirm scheduling.
  • Meetings are held at the Right Management Consultants office located at 7777 Washington Village Drive, Suite 300 in Centerville (off SR 725, just east of I-675).

Please Note:  In our January meeting, we had table discussions on the topic of "Onboarding" and then collected best practices.  Click here for the summary from that meeting and click here for an article from Bing Spitler on the topic, both courtesy of Fred Eck who facilitated our January meeting.
